Our partial hospitalization program* (PHP) provides full-time addiction treatment at a higher level of care than outpatient treatment but still allows clients to take on outside responsibilities. Clients in PHP are assigned a compassionate and informed clinician who creates an engaging treatment plan filled with evidence-based therapies, holistic healing modalities, and dedicated set times for outings, excursions, and events around Cohasset and Boston.
PHP at our Cohasset treatment center typically lasts two to four weeks, usually followed by a less intensive outpatient program (IOP). However, each client’s time in treatment is different, and some find success and transition into another program sooner. Continued Support: Clients who complete PHP can sign up for continued aftercare support that’s local to them. Flexibility: Clients are not required to stay overnight during PHP, allowing them to practice the skills and exercises they learned during the day at home with family, friends, and loved ones. If you’re not in a situation where returning home is viable, we can connect you with partnered residential programs or local sober living facilities and provide transportation to and from treatment.
Structure: PHP offers the highest level of care and structure after residential treatment, and each clinical day is filled with beneficial and engaging activities. A typical morning in PHP might include individual therapy, breathwork classes, gender-specific yoga groups, intro to 12-step meetings, and listening to guest speakers. Afternoons might include drumming circles, therapeutic art sessions, sound therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, and group therapy.
Transitional: We want our clients to feel ready and supported at every step of their recovery journey. PHP serves as a smooth transition between intensive treatment and returning home. Research shows that transitioning between different levels of care leads to higher success rates and lower relapse rates compared to completing only one program.

Unlike a PHP, inpatient treatment requires clients to stay overnight at the facility and provides 24/7 monitoring.
